Here at Pentagon Motorist Centre in Chatham we are proud to have established a superb reputation for high quality car, van or commercial radial tyre services. We are extremely competitive in price for the service we provide the general public in both Chatham and the surrounding Medway area.
The tyre tread is made from rubber compounds and have a tread which contacts the road and sidewalls which support the tread. The compounds are rated and each tyre performs differently in different conditons. As a tyre retailer we are obliged to inform the customer of the rating that pertains to each tyre we sell. Rolling resistance, wet grip and noise performance are the three main ratings that are shown on an invoice given for tyres today.
The tyre gets its strength through metal cords below the tyre tread and ply which bind the tread together, it is able to form an air tight seal because air presses the bead against the wheel rim.
On many occasions we can perform a same day service because we have two deliveries a day to Chatham from our commercial wholesale suppliers. This enables us to offer a wide range in choice of tyre and helps to keep the cost of replacing them down.
There is no competition here, its got to be new every time.
You need to consider when deciding to choose, is it really worth it? There are not that many part worn tyres available and you have got to ask yourself a part worn tyre is part worn for a reason, not to mention that it will be part WORN OUT.
The MOT pass for tread depth is 1.6mm, that means if you decide to buy a part worn tyre with 4mm of tread and if you are driving average mileage per year then in only 1 years time we will be advising that your vehicle will be needing tyres again soon.
The tyre is the only contact with the road and is designed to provide a good road grip keeping your car or van safe and allows for a comfortable ride. The tyre is inflated with air through a Schrader valve, this valve is specially designed to retain the air in as well as allowing the air to be pumped through to achieve the correct pressure. The wheel is then balanced by using wheel balance weights to avoid wheel vibration.
A typical Radial Tyre marking Example: 175/65R/14 88 H
175 – The tyre width in millimeters
65 – The side wall height is 65% of the tyre width
R – Radial ply tyre
14 – Wheel diameter in inches
88 – The load rating (refer to individual table not included)
H – The speed rating (refer to individual table not included)
